[8:30am-4:30pm] Ogden Good Landlord Class
- Description:
This class is necessary for landlords with properties who want to be a part of the Good Landlord Program in their city. THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD AT the Ogden City Hall, located at 2549 Washington Blvd, Ogden UT 84401. The cost of the class is $59 if registered and paid for in advance, otherwise it is $5 extra to register and/or pay at the door. In order to pre-register online, you must be registered 36 hours in advance, otherwise if you’d like to pre-register it must be over the phone by the end of the business day prior to the class. At the end of the class certificates will be given which participants can turn into their city to receive a discount in their business licensing fees. What is the Good Landlord Program? Landlords agree to run background checks and refuse to rent to applicants with certain criminal backgrounds. Landlords also agree to evict problem tenants immediately and keep their properties “clean and green” and in compliance with city codes. They also agree to take a landlord training class, the Good Landlord Class taught by the Utah Apartment Association, approved by the city. In return, the city will discount participant’s business license fees. Are there other benefits to being involved in the program? Hundreds of landlord participants think so. *Darin Deem, owner of Bentwood Apartments, said he was initially skeptical about the program, but as a result of principles he learned in the training program has seen fewer evictions and vacancies and higher profits. “When you have good tenants who pay rent and experience less turnover, it’s a win for landlords,” he says. If you have any questions please call the Utah Apartment Association at 801-487-5619. DO NOT CALL THE CITY - all classes are team taught by the UAA and the Police Department and all registration is done by the UAA. You must pay in advance and provide a valid email address. The e-mail address is essential for the Police Department notification of any criminal activity at your property.
