The UAA is an affiliate of the National Apartment Association (NAA). Our history dates back to 1934. The UAA is managed by a professional staff, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and driven by a multitude of volunteer committees and councils organized to improve and protect your investment.
The Utah multi-family housing industry is made up of a wide variety of businesses; from owners, managers, and developers of thousands of apartment homes in the state of Utah, to the hundreds of industry suppliers of products and services, as well as owners of small units including duplexes and single family rentals. Due to the scope and size of the industry, companies involved are often affected by local, state and federal governmental legislation and/or policy.
The Utah Apartment Association (UAA) is dedicated to improving and protecting the rental housing profession through comprehensive services, educational programs, industry functions, resources & products, information, and legislative advocacy.
UAA has over 2,500 members consisting of apartment owners, builders, developers, property management firms, and supplier companies that provide services, products, and information to the industry. UAA represents 70,000 units in the state of Utah.
The Utah apartment industry represents an immense market value of multi-family housing assets, and the industry spends millions annually. Owners and suppliers have access to these businesses, whether you are looking to expand your rental investment portfolio or become a vendor/supplier partner, UAA gives you the tools to succeed.

Membership Directory: Published at the end of August each year for MEMBERS ONLY, the directory lists each member’s primary contact information. The directory acts as the industry’s personal yellow pages making it simple to locate members by company name and suppliers that are also listed by business category in the Products & Services Guide.
The Utah Rental Housing Journal: This UAA monthly paper keeps you informed with news on the rental housing industry, new services, and upcoming events.
UNITS: The UAA members are automatically affiliated with the National Apartment Association (NAA) and will receive a subscription to NAA’s magazine, UNITS.
Landlord Guide: An excellent resource guide of the Utah Landlord-Tenant laws. The handbook is available to members for a discounted price.
Leases & Forms:
Local, state, and federal governments continually create new laws and regulations which can adversely impact your business. The UAA Leases and Forms help you operate your business more efficiently, cost effectively, and most importantly, are in compliance with the applicable laws and ordinances. The UAA leases and forms are available to MEMBERS ONLY.
Expand Your Networking Resources through the UAA… The UAA organizes several major events and a multitude of conferences, luncheons, and meetings each year. Networking, education, information, involvement, and fun are all part of the equation at UAA Functions!
Annual Trade Show & Economic Conference: The UAA Trade Show features nearly 300 exhibitors and nearly 6,000 attendees. Throughout the Trade Show there are a number of educational seminars that host a variety of topics with invaluable industry information.
Networking Meetings: Monthly luncheons and evening meetings are a great opportunity to meet members, and learn from industry related speakers.
Special Events: The UAA hosts many special events designed to bring our members together in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. A sample of our annual events are: Golf Tournament, Maintenance Mania, Tribute Awards Dinner, Economic Conference, and Holiday Party.
Committees: A wide variety of committees are dedicated to enhancing and supporting the industry. This is the perfect way to get involved, build relationships, and get connected.
Sponsorships and Advertising: Sponsorships for many of the major events are available as well as advertising opportunities in our industry publication Journal and Membership Directory. Sponsors receive recognition through a wide variety of event marketing and advertising value.
Training Your Professional Multi-Family Housing Team… One of the UAA’s primary focuses is building a higher level of professionalism and expertise in the multi-family housing rental industry. Creating and maintaining a professional work environment is essential and the key to your success is through education.
Ownership/Management: The UAA is proud to offer nationally-certified designation programs, as well as locally organized seminars. A variety of topics such as legal, financial, maintenance, and community management are just a few examples of the subject matter these UAA classes offer.
Leasing & Management Courses: The UAA education department offers numerous learning opportunities for leasing and management professionals, including topics like: leasing, Fair housing, marketing, customer service, resident retention, and human resources. Additionally, the designation of the National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP) can be earned through the education department.
Property Management Courses: The Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) course provides national certification and designation for apartment managers. The CAM courses are offered to members at a discount and are an excellent way to pursue higher learning at lower prices!
Maintenance: To address the concerns of property maintenance, the UAA offers hands-on training through the Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) Designation Program. Courses included HVAC, electrical, plumbing, interior/exterior maintenance and more!
Suppliers: For the industry’s suppliers, the Certified Apartment Supplier (CAS) Designation Program includes modules in marketing, risk management, and dollars and sense! Learn more about the multi-family housing industry and increase your professionalism by improving your knowledge of residential management.
